Pennypacker’s Art Celebrates Chesapeake Heritage & Hoopers Oysters
We are excited to announce our collaboration with Morgwn Pennypacker – an acclaimed tattoo artist with deep roots on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Morgwn created “Guard Your Gold,” the striking art on a new line of apparel now available at the Hoopers Island Seafood Market and online.
Designed in American Traditional Tattoo style – characterized by bold black outlines and limited colors – the eye-catching T’s and hoodies showcase one of Morgwn’s signature skulls.
American Traditional Tattoo Style
Over 25 years, Morgwn has developed his unique tattoo style characterized by bold lines, expressive skulls, and abstract flowers depicted on murals, clothing and inked art.
His artistic style was influenced as a child by his parents, who are both artists and Dorchester County natives. He attended Cambridge South Dorchester H.S., working as a commercial waterman before serving in the U.S. Navy.
Morgwn honed his tattoo skills working alongside some of the best artists in America at shops such as Miami Ink, LoveHate Tattoo and American Tattoo.
Today, Morgwn and his wife Yanet maintain a home in Cambridge while traveling the country for select commissions, ink festivals and studio residencies.
Available Only at Hoopers Island
Guard Your Gold is the first in a series of planned commissions by Hoopers Island with Pennypacker.
The apparel is available in men’s and women’s short sleeved t-shirts, unisex long sleeve T’s, unisex fleece hoodies and cropped top for women. (not all the items are represented here; they will be updated upon receipt)
All in the Family
Morgwn’s sister Mona Pennypacker is also an artist who works with us on numerous projects. She designed Hoopers’ website, Hyatt Regency exhibit, and two heritage oyster tins.
