On May 3, 47 ABC Reporter Taylor Lumpkin visited Hoopers Islands Oysters to learn how they’re keeping business afloat while serving the local community.
As our Senior Manager Chris Wyer explained, “All the restaurants are closed so we’re sort of seizing the direct consumer grassroots here locally.”
In an effort to make up for lost revenue, the company decided to fast forward their plans of creating a market to sell their oysters directly to the community.
“We’ve been doing is selling here in Cambridge at Emily’s Produce, at Simmons Markets, and we just got back into farmers’ markets” (like Easton).
And these oysters aren’t only available at farmers’ markets. Hoopers hasa retail store at their Cambridge facility and pop-ups in Baltimore, Frederick and Severna Park.
