Hoopers Island Unveils Design for the 6th Edition Chesapeake Heritage Oyster Tin
Based on a painting by acclaimed tattoo artist Morgwn Pennypacker, Resilience features a bald eagle guarding the Hoopers Island Light. From the marshes of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) to our oyster farm in Fishing Creek, eagles are a familiar presence in the skies above the Chesapeake Bay. An enduring symbol of freedom, they reflect our community: Strong, honest and resilient.
With deep roots on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Morgwn worked as a commercial waterman and served in the U.S. Navy before achieving a successful career in the arts.
Honesty, truth, strength, courage, wisdom and power are a but a few of the many values eagles represent. Hoopers will make a donation for every tin sold to the Friends of Blackwater NWR in recognition of the continued work by countless individuals who conserve, protect, and enhance bald eagle habitats.
